Frequently Asked Questions

Who are you?

Everyone who is organizing this event is a volunteer. They have donated their time and talents. We are incredibly grateful to have an amazing community in Kansas City from moderators of our social media pages to local business owners who provided us with resources and venues!

Why aren’t we marching?

We are unable to purchase the permits to be a parade which is the only legal way to walk in the streets, so we decided to focus less on the marching and more on the science itself. We will have teach-ins, educational booths, voter registration booths and interactive activities for children. But if you happen to organize as groups and march in as your signs, there’s nothing we can do to stop you.

Where can I donate?

You can donate money to the KC March for Science Chapter at

Or buy a shirt here:

What will you do with money left over after the organization of the March is done?

All of the leftover donations will go directly back into Kansas City! We intend to divide the remaining funds and donate to local science supporting organizations

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, you may bring your furry science supporters but they are required to be on leash and you must clean up after any messes your pet makes.

What do you stand for?

We want the KC March to be an educational, enjoyable and peaceful gathering of science-loving minds.
We unite as a diverse, nonpartisan group to call for science that upholds the common good and for political leaders and policy-makers to enact evidence based policies in the public interest.

Who will be speaking?

We have blocked out 4 hours for speeches. In-between our invited guest speakers, we will invite members of the audience to join us on the stage and share their Why I March story.

Current confirmed speakers (subject to change).

  • Roy Jansen, PhD – Director, University of Kansas Cancer Center
  • Sci Babe – Yvette d’Entremont,
  • Kenneth Peterson, PhD – Director, Center for Epigenetics and Stem Cell Biology
Why do you need donations?

With support from the National D.C. March for Science organizers and other various Kansas City local organizations (Indivisible, Women’s March) and have assessed the following necessary purchases in order to put on a family friendly, safe and enjoyable event.

We need money to purchase the necessary health and safety equipment (port-o-potties, EMTs, police), city permits, etc.

Can I bring my child?

Of course! This will be a safe environment for children, and we hope they learn something too! Children’s activities are planned.
