How do we achieve these goals?
March for Science KC is a young organization, with a bright future and much room to grow. We are entirely volunteer-operated. We started with first March for Science in April of 2017, which served to show that Kansas City supports science and values evidence-based policy.
Since then, we put on the 2018 Celebrate Science Festival, we have contacted 27 of the local 2018 midterm candidates to ask them to get on the record on 10 science policy issues , and we provide the only interactive calendar of STEM events in KC that prioritizes events for adult science enthusiasts. We also connect Kansas City area residents with regional STEM news, #ScienceinKC, and science advocacy resources via our social media accounts.
If you're called to this work, we'd love to hear from you!
March for Science KC is a domestic nonprofit corporation registered in Missouri. We are not yet registered as a 501(c)3 according to the tax code of the Internal Revenue Service of the United States, but we operate pursuant to the restrictions for 501(c)3 organizations -- this includes limited advocacy for specific political measures (lobbying) and no advocacy for or against any candidate for public office.
Our funding comes from various fundraising efforts such as benefits, t-shirt sales, crowdsourcing, and sometimes the personal funds of our leadership team. You can find organizations that have helped to support us here (we are so thankful to them!). The money supports the website and domain, email services, and promotional materials to help us pursue our mission and goals. Thank you to all who have supported us and continue to support us!
